    Recommend a decent KVM console

I'm looking for a couple of 1u KVM console's, one for some servers that are co-lo'd and one for our corp. rack. I have no experience with these things so I'm wondering hwat you guys have used and recommend.

One of them doesn't need to be full res, as all it will be used for is Linux boxes with no GUI, but the one here will be connected to a few WIN boxes.

APC or Belkin....yesterday I just built 2x Netshelter server cabinets for a cardiology group. Man the HP Proliant DL380 G4 servers they got for this new digital document system they're getting...WOW nice servers.

Anyways, for those we just used Belkin Omniview Pro2...1U units.

I've also used APCs own KVMs...very nice, a wee bit more money.

I use an 8-port Belkin 1U KVM switch and underneath it I have a Compaq KVM keyboard that slides in and out of a 1U slot and has a trackball mouse built into the keyboard.. I use a 15" monitor on the top shelf of the rack, but those slide out LCD's would be nice.

yeah, we've got the budget so we're not gonna **** around. We're setting up our production back-end at a co-lo facility so we jsut want it completely dialed in.

or APC also makes a SWEET ONE!

Also depending on your current cabinet setup, there are LCD monitors which slide out...then flip down.

At the cardio group now installing SQL on this server. Wow...cute nurses here.

If you have enough budget, i highly recommend getting an IP KVM - that way you can control all of your servers from anywhere with a network connection.
Dell do a very nice range of normal KVMs and definatly go for one with the slide out screen - rack space is more expensive then a 1U screen so save as much space as you can.
