Thumbs down Getting disconnected from service!!!!! HELP!

I am running win98se and i share my connection to @home via 2 NIC cards, 1 connected to the modem, and another to different machine. I have ICS enabled, everything is configured, just started from clean install (again) and tried to speed up connection (adv reg methods) by manually changing the MTU for my machine and the ICS, and also tried the patches... Well all said and done, I keep getting disconnected from my service @ random... I'll be downloading something, or doing nothing @ all, just suddenly... Bam total pause on all net ports. I can reclaim connection by running Winipcfg and renewing my card connected to the cable modem... I need any help i can take here, this has been a headache for 2 weeks now, and just want my service back to the way i had it---

set yourself up static... if that doesn't work call them and have them check the Matrix for line noise or trans/rcv power probs...
