    Wow, these came outta nowhere. 64 bit intels are here with 2mb l2 cache. $259. Are the 915/925 boards compatible with these???

    Yeah, 915/925 are compatible.

    They did come out of nowhere, but I'm wondering how fast in 64-bit apps they actually are, compared to the Athlon64s.

    Anyone have any benchies?

    The roadmap for intel looks promising. but im with you i would like to see some benches.

    Can't imagine you'll get a huge performance bump until the OS is also 64bit - by then the prices will hit the sweet spot too.

    Good read yos...still seems to be the case, if you want a pure gaming rig go A64, but for multitasking you just can't beat the HT of the intels....now i need to get back to work

    I think the A64's shine in 32bit use more than they will under 64bit operation.

    Though i've been wanting to build an A64 machine just to mess around with, for me it's always about multitasking. I love the fact that I can encode and burn dvds while playing hl2 or css and never miss a beat. After looking at those benches I can comfortably say that I'm staying with intel for a little while longer.
