This is just the sort of thing that helps keep things in perspective for me. It shows the frailty of existence as we meagerly strive to comprehend it, as well as aspects of nature we have no means of accurately calculating as they unfold.
In a fraction of time the apex of "our" collective knowledge throughout the ages is exceeded by an event which could have wiped us out.

I wonder how many birth defects and other anomalies will result from this. Surely it has to have some sort of impact on our surroundings.
