I think that you are asking how to access files on CompA from CompB?
If your router is performing DHCP, then both machines will be able to talk to each other using TCP/IP.
Assuming you are using a microsofft operating system as you say you have file sharing setup, then all you should need to do is add identical user accounts on each PC with identical passowds. you can then browse to compA from compB by typing the following into the start>run box
    \\compa (then press enter)

You will then see all of the shared resources on CompA. You will need to ensure that the files you need access to are shared - simplest way is to the put them into the shared documents folder.

If you want to access more than just the shared folder you need to use something like VNC or XP's remote desktop connection.

Have you disabled the Windows Firewall on both PC's?

    Are you talking about UNC?

    Try \\[computername]\[drive letter]$ ...

    For example... \\mainpc\c$ .

This will let you see the ENTIRE drive. JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE IDENTICAL USER ACCOUNTS AND PASSWORDS ON BOTH COMPUTERS!

The following link has info about sharing issues.

If your Sharing positvly works OK, look at the end of the page for the “Mapping Drives” explanation.
