Donate to the Red Cross Tsunami relief efforts..

www.amazon.com makes it easy as does Yahoo and a couple of other sites....

    Check out this page..

    http://s1.amazon.com/exec/varzea/ts/...927148-0539124

If donating to the Red Cross makes you squimish, then I'd be willing to bet your choice of churches also take donations....

Be proactive..ever dollar counts and if that's all you can afford, then that's a wonderful contribution.

That's what we did too. Amazon has already collected several million. Very impressive.

Hey you people out there slamming the USA? Bite me.

WOW! Here's the latest figures from Amazon:

    Total Collected: US $9,397,936.00
    # of Payments: 124497

And there are many, many other ways that people are giving. Just from the American people the number will be huge. Probably will end up being larger than most countries when all is said and done.

About the time you think people are the freaking scourge of the planet, the outpouring of of love shocks us.

I've been watching more news and reading more accounts of just how bad it really is...

    One article I came across...

    http://www.salon.com/news/wire/2005/...vor/index.html

Search and rescue teams have found their first survivor..

Then I read things like this...

As the relief efforts drove deeper into the sprawling disaster zone, American pilots had some of the first glimpses of wrecked Sumatran coastal villages such as Kuede Teunom, where survivors in tattered clothing grabbed at bottles of water dropped from helicopters.

Officials said 8,000 of Keude Teunom's 18,000 residents were killed in the disaster.

Think about that for a second....the odds are..that close to half of everyone you know are gone.....I can't imagine...

Reporters were given a look at the wiped-out village of Malacca, on the Indian island of Car Nicobar, where the only structure still standing was a statue of independence leader Mahatma Gandhi. About 4,000 people are missing on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Indian territory off the coast of Malaysia.

Dunno if that's everyone on there or what...but I'm guessing since the only thing there is a statue...then everyone are probably presumed dead.....A whole community.....

Anyway.......something in me just gave in. I've hit the big button for the Red Cross twice now in less than a week.

The first one, my wife and I discussed how much to spend. This one, I gave all of my overtime for the last 2 weeks. She may be mad but she'll get over it.

I imagine as more reports come in...I just could be moved to do it again..

I'm just too overcome by it all.

I dont even watch the news anymore..I can only take seeing so much.

If I focus too much energy thinking about it...it does me no good.

    I gave $100 to UNICEF.

A third of the victims were kids...that's 50,000 kids dead. The kids that survived are in deep trouble.
