Question Which line of AMD Processors is the best?

Which line of AMD Processors is the best for the average computer user?

    Like just for gaming...pretty much...

    Athlon, Sempron, or Opteron ?

and of the Athlons which is the best Athlon 64, Athlon XP, Athlon MP?

    Thanks,
    Tyler / *Cho*

AMD 64 FX-55 is their current top dog.
Note that there is a difference between the AMD 64, and the AMD 64 "FX".

MP is for dual processor rigs - elsewise mroe or less the same as XP.

I'd get a fast XP for "the average home user who likes to game"
anything is possible - nothing is free

the athlon xp chip is far the best for the price you pay,

i wont be upgrading my cpu till this one dies on me, or they lower the price of the 64bit chips by a few houndred doallors... HAH!

any ways im waiting for nf0rce 4 chip set with pci-x support, maybe i'll pick up one of them..

    http://www.fact-index.com/a/am/amd_5x86.html

    Just some fun info..
I like the AMD 586 chip

    Well... back in the day.....
It was cool, because it was rated as a Pentium1 @ 75 MHZ ,
but it really could do 90 MHZ.. I used to play the first version of
    Diablo, on this chip.. Happy!

I have a 286 AMD Chip around here in my graveyard of yesterday..

I was running a Duron for a long time, until I got a Athlon XP.. hate to say it, but it is a big speed difference (on chip Cache) .. The AMD Sempron Cpu's are suppose to be the replacement line for the Duron's, with some "new" features...

The Duron 1.3 gig that I have, Is now a happy Apache Web Server..
    The Linux loves it.

I hope AMD comes out with a faster chip for "Socket A" boards...
Rumors that I was hearing, around the "AMD Campfire".... was maybe a
64 Bit Sempron Cpu for Socket A Boards.. how sweet would that be!

We'll that's what I'm hoping.. but things don't happen like that.. when there are new specs like the AMD64 boards that are out..

Oh well.. more money out of my wallet..

    Be Happy,
    Shinobi

I don't see how you could drop a 64bit chip into a 32bit chipset... Otherwise interesting facts!
