Funny is when a fat lady walks around while someone plays the tuba. Once you've seen that, you'll never laugh at anything else. Except maybe a skeleton dancing around while someone plays the xylophone, which is almost exactly the opposite of a fat lady walking around while someone plays the tuba. Well, a skeleton is the opposite of a fat lady. But is a xylophone the opposite of a tuba? History will decide.

Didn't you post a goodbye thread saying you were going to take a week off the forums like, yesterday?

Cheney was in control. Edwards was almost painful to watch.

My goodness Burke...such rancor for something that's not even the equal of the Four Sisters or The Heritage Foundation or the Sarah Scaife Foundation, or the Carthage Foundation. The thing is....there are ways to fuel money to a belief, it's just that MoveOn is the first to gain collections through the technology that the web gives us. It's the first time that the small person can in his/her mind, make a difference. MoveOn wouldn't exist if Star, Bob Barr, and a basketfull of nutcases had focused on running the country other than smearing a President.

John Edwards did not debate, he was stumping. What so difficult to watch was his near adolescent demeanor and body language. VP Cheney was stately and mature.

    My view, FWIW:

Apparently Edwards won the women polls more than the men. Most importantly, he didn't make any bad gaffs and you could see him as a VP. He doesn't have the same gravitas as Cheney does and that hurt him with men. He did look way more youthful and energetic and his closing was much better. That helped him hudely with women. Most of the hits he tried to land were deflected, though he did score with the Enron/Halliburton/Iran stuff. Cheney came across as more alpha male, which also helped him with men though he scored no heavy hits, but a series of strong jabs about voting records and the like.

I note that Cheney looked stronger than Bush did in his debate, and the comment about who really runs the White House is not without merit if these debates really reflect the men. Bush seems very big picture vision oriented where Cheney seems very focused and ground based. The dreamer versus the statistician, if you will. From the public showings of Bush, Cheney was more focused and more aware and not as sloganeering. He didn't give any sneers, but very conciously ducked his head and wrote (or played tic-tac-toe with himself, who knows what they were writing) which meant fewer reaction shots and no opportunity to get caught looking squirelly.

All in all I score it more or less a tie, with myself giving the edge to Cheney on experience and no tactical errors. Women seem to heavily favor Edwards though, and if the men are evenly divided (and it appears we mostly are or give a small win to Cheney) then Edwards wins because the overwhelming support for him from the women makes up the difference.

    Hi too All

I'm Canadian and not a Political Person at all, however i watched this Debate.

From my perspective Cheney came across as Businesslike and very controlled. Someone you could rely on in a time of emergency. Not out of place in any environment. The type of Person who speaks with knowledge and conviction.
Not in anyway a braggart and someone who holds his cards close to his Vest. Purposeful!

He showed Class when he Thanked Edwards on behalf of His Family when speaking on the Gay/Lesbian issue and made no rebuttal to Edwards remarks. He was very well prepared, but was able to sound off the cuff in most cases.

Sen. Edwards came off as a Pitchman for Kerry imho. He was so scripted that he was constantly a step behind in answering the Moderators Questions it seemed. Always wanting the last word in every exchange. The exact opposite i thought of Cheney who knew when to let things go, as his point had been made.

Edwards hand gestures and his look (like that Kid in Class who always had the answer) did little to enhance his image imho. Nothing Stately, or In Charge, in his demeanour.

I watched the Talking heads for awhile after and i thought their Views so slanted as to be laughable. Their Edwards Won without doubt insistence, caused me to wonder if we'd seen the same Debate.

I thought VP Cheney overpowered Edwards at every turn and clearly was the hands down Winner of this night.

His past experience showed and imho He is clearly a step beyond Edwards, or Kerry imho.

Well thats enough Politics for me for the next 20 years.

One of those sleepless nights...Damn i used to think of women, or watch the Porn channel.

---Don't tell downhill i was here

    ---

    regards

Anyone notice how Cheney didn't thank Edwards at the end?
