    Need some help with my website

    We redesigned our website and I found a nice free template. so it not mine from scratch...but take a look here

    http://www.nnjpr.org

    How do I do the following:

    1) Get rid of the dotted line at the end of that last column

    2) How do I make it fit the entire page? What I mean is i want that left column where it says gettsyburg investigation to be flushed along the left hand side of page

  2. #2
    ok i figured out how to get rid of dotted line it was in style.css

    but not sure how to make it fit entire screen

    What res. are you using? remember the people that are using 800x600, which is still a good many. Trying it at that res. I get a horz. scrollbar.

    In order for the page to scale to & fit all browser resolutions (800x600 & above) you will need to use % for table width (which you already have) but you will also need to set the dimensions of the middle column to a % as well.

    The left column and rt colums can be set to pixel widths and the midddle will then scale to the browser window.

    The easiest way to do this is to use CSS for the TDs.
    td.col1 {width:135px;}
    td.col2 {width:auto;}
    td.col3 {width:XYpx;}

    If use CSS for the td s then no need for the nested tables!

    Add these 3 entries to your css file:

    td.col1 {width:135px;}
    td.col2 {width:auto;}
    td.col3 {width:XYpx;} (set desired width for 3rd columns)

    Then, in your html code for the column on lft, change existing code from <td width="135"> to <td class="col1">

    For middle column change <td > to <td class="col2"> and change 3rd column to <td class="col3">.

    You can use any names you want for the classes, such as <td class="page_left"> <td class="page_middle"> <td class="page_right"> , just make change to css as well: td.page_left { }

    <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="961"

    Why is width at 964?

    Like Tony mentioned, I would change: <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="961"> to >> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="95%"> or a 100%.

    Add to the style sheet:

    input {background:#ffffff;} ((use whatever colors and fonts you want))

    Customize form buttons like so:

    input.button {font:normal 11px Tahoma,sans-serif; color:#000000; background:#ffffff;} (use whatever colors and fonts you want)

    example: <input type='submit' class='button' name='submit' value='Submit'>

    You can even change the size of text and colors of form elements onMouseOver using inline javascript and css. You will need 2 classes defined in the style sheet:

    Example of changing button color & font style:

    input.button1 {font:normal 11px Tahoma,sans-serif; color:#000000; background:#ffffff;}
    input.button2 {font:bold 11px Tahoma,sans-serif; color:#000000; background:#fffffee;}

    <input class="button1" type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit" onmouseover="this.className='button2'" onmouseout="this.className='button1'">

    I have a web application I recently built to enter data into a database for my construction business. I change the text inputs onFocus so that they use a larger font and return to original when tabbing to next text input.
