    Download "Powerstrip" http://www.entechtaiwan.com/files/pstrip.exe

Install it.(duh) Read the files and tweak the GFX card a bit.
Get the latest Ultra ATA drivers from Intel http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...?ProductID=182 , figure out what ya need and d/l such.
Also get the Intel Application Accelerator http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...?ProductID=663, its a snap to install. Helps a good bit IMO.
Find a registry checker, clean that bit out. Track down redundant files, kill em. Then defrag, VOPT is a great defragger http://www.vopt.com/

    Hope that gets ya started.

    That'll get you started.
We both have Comcast, so after you follow mnosteele52's advice you could grab Cablenut here

than copy and paste this into notepad and save it as a tweak.ccs

Great link. I just tried some of that stuff and the improvements are really nice. My favourites are - SPEED UP NETWORK BROWSING and FASTER WEB PAGE LOADING. My web pages just appear almost instantly, no more browser hanging.

hi all . thanks for the nice welcome -
well, to start off , i did git the spyware -i did the cable tweek
i did the intel tweek{s}- and rebooted - and there was a blank screen-
didnt know what to do so i rebooted again - still blank screen {is this the blue screen of death?} anyways , i dumped the system and reformatted again using the tweeks that worked and avoiding the intel tweeks /drivers -
the system is back up and connections are great in the cable line -Thanks!-
cyPHer_138 can you tell me witch tweeks would be good to use under the performance section of the link you posted?

hi Gamers - i resently came back to this section to have another look at the link Cypher posted -
i have found this - can anyone tell me to apply this ? or not?- i have added another 512{1024 ram now} memory and wanted to know if i should apply this?
This registry patch increases the AFD buffer from 512 to 1024. Increasing this value increaes the number of messages
sent before folow control is imposed. This increases throughput.
    Problems?
None really, if you want to undo it, just use the undo file
    What does this file contain?
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AFD\Parameters]
    "BufferMultiplier"=dword:00000400

    thanks for any replies

The NTFS one works well. All you do is download, click them and reboot.
Lately I've gone really conservative with what tweaks I use. Some of them do more bad than good which defeats the purpose of them.
You're also safe with the increased buffer size. What exactly are you trying to do?
If you want to get optimal performance realize that most tweaks will only provide marginal improvements.
Systems are limited by the hardware they run more so than the software if the software is configured properly.
