How long have you let it run ?

The new 249 pointers may take a good 20 Minutes before it shows any progress ( the first frame has to complete ) depending on your system.

Got a pen drive?? or maybe a CD-Burner?
Copy the \work directory and the queue.dat file and take it home and do a -send from home
Just make sure u stop folding before you copy the files
It holds the unsent work data.

If you are folding at home make yourself a FAH2 directory. Make the config see that as Machine ID2
so before you copy have the fah4console.exe in the fah2 directory and type fah4console -configonly
then choose to modify the advanced options and put your username and team number and tell it the machine ID 2
copy the files to the FAH2 directory and then type
    fah4console -send all
that will send all finished work units. Don't let that station get above 9 stored work units or it will overwrite them and you will lose them one by one

Also on those HUGE work units I change the time period for it writing to disk from the normal 15 minutes down to 3 minutes, that way if you do stop it folding to do something else you will lose at the most 3 minutes of folding.

Seems that the Attempt to get new work failed is happening more and more, its just that the server your assigned to may be overloaded at that particular time and it makes you try again in a few seconds or minutes to get a work unit from it. I've had some pc's go into the 80's on retries before finally getting a new work unit.

It looks like the problem lies in decompressing ... You are cennecting to get the new file no problem For the initial attempt ...

Also perhaps setting the deadline is too short ... I noticed that this entire period is only 1 minute : ( or ar you stopping it and only showing us the first attempt ? )

It should not be timing out so fast on that deadline.

Mine has gone for 12 hours attemping 26+ attempts to get a new work packet before finally getting through. NEver once did it fail or stop on it's own , so if you are stopping it after the first couple of fails , then just let it run ...

A fix for this ??? I dunno ... I'm just taking a guess though that It's corrupting files as they are installed and decompressed.

These other guys ( the pros ) should be able to help more ...

Im actually stopping it after receiving the first error. I have allowed it to go as many as the third error, but it never seems to work. It's pretty odd because I never used to have this problem.

It's rare for me to have that issue right after first installation , but like Rikoik said , I've had them go for hours on that error before finally connecting and then DL'ing a new work unit ... Get it started one night and just let it error out all night and see if it ever pics up.

If you have Norton NIS disable it and see.
