With windows 2003 you just follow the tweaks for xp
im sorry if this post has already been posted up..but im really lost reading all the guides about tweaking speed...im kind of confused..and i have not found any guides for win 2k3(i thought tweaking of speed has to depends on the OS you're using?)
i did a tcp/ip check as on SG site and this is the result.
==================
SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer
TCP properties for IP = *********()
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.2; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.
TCP options string = 020405a00103030201010402
MTU = 1480
MTU is optimized for Windows XP PPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising MTU to 1500 for optimal throughput.
MSS = 1440
MSS is optimized for Windows XP PPPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising MTU to 1500 for maximum throughput.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 257760
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits (scale factor of 4)
Unscaled Receive Window = 64440
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
506880 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
253440 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
126720 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
63360 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10310.4 kbps (1288.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4124.16 kbps (515.52 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 46 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000

my dsl seems slow..i have no idea but i feel that my download is always tap at 30-40kb altho this is a 512kb speed dsl plan(i know you can't get 512kb speed but 30kb is too slow?)
i've just download cablenuts but when i hit 'retrieve current registry settings' there's nothing..(maybe cablenuts is not compatible with win 2k3?) i didn't change anything bcuz i was afraid that i might not be able to restore back to the default(since i can't retrieve current registry setting and save it as a backup).
is there anything i can do to improve my speed a little better?
many thanks.
