    You should ALWAYS take the lump sum, because most lottery winnings are canceled upon the death of the payee. So, you win $300 mil, get the first payment, then die. That's all you get.

    Powerball and the CT lotto allow you to add a 2nd name on the ticket. so if you die the money moves on to that other person.

    the point is you couldn't have recieved all the money owed to you while you were alive, therefore you wouldn't reap the benefit of having all the money while you were alive
