    To change the bootlogo on XP and 2k you have to modify the NTOSKRNL.EXE file, it's in the system32 folder. You swap bitmap images using a resource hacker. I know for 2k if the new image is more than 16 colors or larger than 640 X 480 you have problems and can't boot into windows. I edit my boot.ini file so I can use the new or the old ntoskrl file. Here is my boot.ini for my 2k box.
    [boot loader]
    timeout=0
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Modified" /fastdetect /kernel=NTOSTEST.exe
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
    C:\CMDCONS\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Recovery Console" /cmdcons

    The "/kernel=NTOSTEST.exe" is what runs the hacked file, in my case it's "NTOSTEST.exe". Anybody remember the old test pattern you would get on your TV, that's my boot screen. If you use a program to do this it's posible it edits the file and then swaps it with the original on next boot. If that's the case boot into safe mod and use that app to put the original back.
    I don't know the same things you don't know.

    OK, I'm glad you got it sorted.
