    The new LCD...

    NEC MultiSync LCD2080UX

Got it for just under $1200 with overnight shipping. Replaces the wonderful Samsung 181T that has served me well for two years.

I hate ViewSonics. They're always too dark for my eyes.

how come you didn't go for the Dell 2100FP (i think that's what it's called)

people seem to be going loopey over them... with it's super fast 16ms response time

Unlike what most people will claim, I've never had a problem with ghosting at 25ms. Plus, the Dell has a lower contrast ratio.

funny you should say that as i used to have a 25ms screen - and i never noticed ghosting either.

my current screen is 500:1 and is bright enough to light up the room at night

in fact it takes a while for your eyes to adjust to such a bright screen but now i love it. so i understand that bright screens with good contrast are nice

    Oh yeah - Contrast!

The Samsung's got 450:1, so it's not bad. Response it only 25ms, but it does pretty good. I was using it the other night with all the lights in the room off, dang!

If you're using a VGA connection, then yeah, there is ghosting. With DVI, none. At least in my experience.
