I plan to buy a Laser printer for my apartment. I read somewhere that laser printers are liable to emit ozone gas which is poisonous if the filter is not maintained properly. I also heard that the toner dust can lead to health problems too. Is this true? Is it too risky using laser printers when you have small kids?
I hate inkjet printers because the ink is too expensive compared to the toner for laser printers, and you can print many more pages with a toner cartridge than with a inkjet cartridge. I print only B&W pages anyway.
Any advice from anyone here?

Geez...I'm more concerned with being STABBED in my apartment than I am being overcome by laser printer cast-off. I wouldn't worry AT ALL.

lots of info here
Thanks for the links. I had seen those already, but I also want to know the personal experiences of the fellow members here.
Hi Burke,
I am concerned more for my 5 year old kid than for myself.
I think this sums it up.The media have repeatedly reported on the health risk of toner dust. Potential risk only exists if toner dust is actually released into the air. Toner dust—just like fine dust-- should not be inhaled, as it could possibly damage health
I've refilled my own before, without a problem. My laser printer is sitting two feet behind me.
When I fall over dead from Toner poisioning I'll be sure to let you know.
Respect it.
Good. Just make a last wish to your next of kin to inform me when it happens. I will appreciate that.Originally posted by ScottE
