saved...what is it you see, that we don't see?

i've read alot of your posts...and they seem to be alot about faith, religion, christianity etc....

    1) what makes christianity different from the other of the religions?

    2) How do you know it is the true one?

    3) are their signs to show that this is true?

    4) How do you know (from personal experience) that christianity is the true religion/faith?

    5) what's so good about christianity?

    6) what will a christian benefit from this religion?

    7) what is a christian in your own words?

    8) from what i've read so far about chrisitanity is that it's about Worshiping and praising some being that you don't see...is that correct?

    9) what if i don't want to worship this being? because i think that being doesn't deserve to be worshipped

    10) what has this being done for me, to cause me to worship it?

I think these questions should about sum it down with all the religion threads you've been starting....

    I can't answer for Saved...

I will answer for me though...

John the Baptist was in the wilderness...Crying Out to those who would listen..!!..??

    Matthew 3.....

As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 12 And His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear His threshing floor; and He will gather His wheat into the barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

Now there are many parables in this passage....I have found it to be 100% truthful though Spice

I think that's why saved makes so many post about religion, to educate those who don't know what it's about.

I usually give them a quick look then hit the back button. Not much for me to say because I don't a lot about it either.

For one to want to have a religious experience, one has to initially put faith into it's scriptures and such (bibles).

This has known to be called the problem of circularity. How can one put faith into something to have a religious experience when in the first place they can't believe in.

Another view would be this. An analogy would be, all roads leads to london. Roads meaning religions and london to be the heaven/nirvana/hell or what place you need to be. Different religions have differnent paths to london, it's just another path.

However, trying to explain a religion to someone who has already their own religious beliefs is like catching a fish with a wrong sized net. Your net might have big holes to catch big fish but cannot catch any small fish. What I'm saying is, if you are buddhist and jesus stood right infront of you, you won't recognize or know who he is. Same goes for a christian seeing the buddha.

Some people say that religions are like Pounds and Grams. It's translatable. One religion can be traslated into another. Just like how we can convert pounds into grams. This view is not very popular as you can imagine.

If one acheives nirvana or total inner peace or met the transendant. The fallacy of composition of our human created lanaguage could not describe it to others. Our words cannot comprehend all these things. Some say we have to truly experience it to get it and words have no meaning at that stage. (some say copout)

Our senses or receptions cannot conceive of all the things that are around us. We do know that there are infrared or microwaves and such but our senses cannot conceive of it. Could it be that hard that htere are something out there still that we still have not find a true method to detect of and others have this sort of extra sense that they actually could "sense" it or "feel" it but have no way to explain it to us since words have no meaning.

There are many other ways for people to argue if one is right or wrong. Most of it will boil down to this, you do not need to have truth or justified beliefs to be a justified beliefer. What they understand you might not. what they feel you cannot, it doesn't make you inferior or they are superior.

However, there is no "neutral standpoint" where one could stand and say, "This is righ, that is wrong and so on". Without a universal or neutral standpoint. Everyone can argue everything else because it's relative to them.

I'll end this with the Pascal Logic. There are 4 possibilities:

There's No god but you worshiped it: Negative

Theres no god and you didn't worship it: Neutral

Theres a God and you didn't worship it: Huge Negative

There's a God and you worshiped it: Positive+++

As you can see, the benefits of beliefing in god is much higher than not believing in it. So why not? Sounds selfish? of course. What did you expect, Pascal is a mathematician.

So in the end, you do not get a single word I say or someone else says, no biggie. You might view what I've said differently or the same and not agree, it's all good. It's not that they're better or you're stupid. Everyone is wired different ways and just like I said above, everyone is like a fishing net, some ideas you can catch some you can't. No one can understand/comprehend every idea/religion and so on.

(to know more about religious thinking and rationale behind it all, I recommend taking a course or reading more about the philosophy of religion)

Disclaimer: All of the above does not reflect my own views. I'm just trying to explain what I've learnt in hopes of helping others.

    Well...Immortal...

I have said this is these forums many times...

We in the Pentecost....Are not religious....So I guess the Terms differ as to our beliefs...

Christianity and Religion fall under different categories there my friend...

Christians Follow The Teachings of *Jesus*....I know this seems a little hard to comprehend....Most folks I know term the Latter as *Religiousity*..Something we rarely involve ourselves in.It seems to have *Run It's Course or Otherwise*...LOL!!

    Cheers Bud Spice

Again, words are hard to comprehend. What you mean by religion may not be what I mean by religion. It's the same as if you said that buying stocks are not investment. Maybe it's because you're a real estage agent and that investment is buying up land and capital. I might be an economist and view all of the above into investment.

But can you believe that when I was younger, I actually wanted to be a priest for the longest time? Well, I did go to 14 yrs of catholic school and church every week and so on. I even acheived 100% in all 3 semesters of bible knowledge. First and only one ever, I actually thought I will actually see Jesus if I prayed hard enough in church. I was in the choir, an altar boy and so on. heh, those were the days.

Yeah, what spicer is saying is that the terms are confused a lot, and we are usually grouped with the zealots who are 'religious' but not necessarily true 'Christians'.

Itís a stereotype or a lack of understanding on the terminology.

I probably am confusing it. I'm just talking about religion in general that's why.

I guess that could be an anology

Religion would be = Science as a whole
Christianity would be = Einsteins teachings

    i guess maybe lol

except that because of the trilogy God/Jesus and the Holy Spirit are all one, yet 3 seperate things

    Again....things aren't what they seem.

Has no one noticed that saved rarely posts to his own threads?

saved, what is it your hiding? There isn't any reason to be ashamed of your own faith.......You know what I'm getting at.
