memory size limits your overclocking ability ?

i am running 1GB of LL corsair right now in main PC @ 185x12 at 2x2x2x6.
can't go much faster on the fsb because i like it very stable, i have a 512 stick of CMX512-3200C2 corsair that is rated for 2x3x3x6 @ 200FSB.

was thinking about running all 3 sticks but was wondering if it my mobo will overclock to the same speeds i am at right now.

i know the memory is not maxed out at this speed, but my mobo gets wierd if i go much higher that about 194fsb, i have an older version

i guess i am just curious as to filling all 3 slots will make me slow some timings or whatever ??

So, you are planning to run 1.5 GB, right? How are you going to run full dual channel like that?

i believe it still runs dual channel with all 3 slots filled, but i will read the manual.

the general rule of thumb is....... the more DIMMS/mem modules you put in, the greater the load on the memory controller. this doesn;t mean you wont be able to OC as well.... it just means the chances of it going as high are a bit lower (still may... won;t know until you try)
