    WinXP Rebooting Problem

    i've had some rebooting problems in the past and did a nice clean winxp pro install. everything was running fine with no random reboots for a few days. then all of a sudden, lastnight it rebooted on me. check my sig for hardware specs. please someone help me. i'd had to deal with this in the past and i thought by a clean install it might help. seems like it hasn't. thanks!

    first things first, right click on my computer, go to properties.
    next click the advanced tab, then settings under startup and recovery. now uncheck automatically restart and hit ok till ur out of all of the windows. go back to ur normal business and when it fails, instead of restarting--i'll give a blue screen. tell me what it says and we'll go from there. if you want to give it a go yourself, read the main error toward the top of the screen and enter it into the ms knowledgebase at support.microsoft.com. see if they can give u any hints..if not i'll check back.

    I just reinstalled last night and had a problem with random rebooting, mine turned out to be the msblast virus... but i did a format and hadn't even connected to the internet yet... wierd. Anyway, if your AV software is up-to-date it will eliminate that.

    Beginning dump of physical memory.
    Physical memory dump complete.
    Contact your system adminor technical support group for futher assistance.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    please let me know what i can check or what i can do in order to diagnose the problem and then fix it. thanks!

    You could have the Blaster worm maybe. It does cause reboots.

    I'm havign the same rebooting hassles with my new computer. It's brand new though hasn't opened an e-mail or hardly browsed the web so I doubt my issue is virus/worm related.

    Try running it with the side case door open and a space fan blowing across it just to rule out overheating.

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL is usually video card!!! Could mean that the Videocard is defective or corrupted drivers. Did you previously have a different videocard in that system? Forget to uninstall the old videocard drivers?

    i'v had the fan blowing on my computer for about 6hrs now without a blue screen. should i be running any high demand of resource programs? or just leave it on? i've got blue screens from doing nothing on the computer to running many programs.
