    DSL connection dropping

I have ADSL, I use a USB Modem.

My connection drops at random, Stays down for like 2-3 mins and corrupts my downloads or whatever I'm doing. Is there anything I can do to prevent this ?

    I'm running windows 2000 professional.
    Athlon Xp 1700+
    512Mb Crucial

    Anything else.. Let me know

So, All I would have to do is buy a PCI DSL modem... Install the drivers and all. Then plug a phone line into in and im connected. Or will I have to have a network card also ?

Let me know, Because this is killing me.

No, you have to buy an ethernet card and connect your modem to your pc that way instead of USB.

    How does that work ?

My modem only has a USB port and Phone line port.
I actually have 2 Network Cards lying around.
If you can explain, I'll do it now lol

If your modem only has a USB connection then you need a new modem.
