In other words, don't expect it. I'll followup on why when I get back from work.
If they are trying to get a new system going (PSX), doesn't it make sense to get your PS2s out the door and the PS name into consumers heads ?
Just my .02.
I think this is for the old version with out the infared port and progressive scan playback.

I just put two Game Cubes on layaway at Wal-Mart for Christmas. They rang up $99 each. No games, one controller and it suggested that a memory card be purchased.
There was another package next to them for $150. It came with more stuff, but I didn't read the package to see exactly what.
Barb
I can get em for somewhere near $70 with both controllers and a couple of games.

The PSX is meant for higher-end home entertainment centers, and at prices ranging from $750~$1000, it shows. It's designed to be a PVR and such that just happens to play games (just as the NGage is a cell phone/mp3 player/pda that just happens to play games [somebody should inform Nokia on thatOriginally posted by mountainman

Just my .02.]). I really doubt the PS2 will even catch on in the US, and even it's presence (at least in terms of popularity) in Japan is uncertain.
The PS2s are likely going nowhere, and there's little reason for Sony to drop the price, even to $150 (which is my guess, IF they do anything). They have a huge share of the console market in Japan, Europe, and the US, and even the Cube's sudden drop to $100 barely dented Sony's sales (it definately boosted the GCN's, but I don't know how long that'll last). Sure, competition is tough, but Sony has well enough of a lead to shrug off price cuts, as people will buy PS2s anyway. Also, Sony's plans on combining chips to save production costs will be starting shortly (if not already), but not only will it take time before they hit our shores, but they also won't save enough for them to reflect an $80 price drop.
You also need to remember that the next crop of consoles won't be coming out until 2005 or 2006. Two~three years is a long time for any company to stay at or below that price level, and I still wonder how Nintendo plans on staying so low for so long. Sony has little reason to keep their top-selling console at a price that low for such a period of time.
Basically, there's little reason for Sony to drop in price at this point, and I'd actually be shocked if they went anywhere below $149.99 by the end of the year (even then, I'd be surprised if they went to that point). And certainly not because "some Target exect told someone that he had seen something", and reported it all to a site called UltimateGamez...

That was a good one, man. How can you say it sucks? PS2 is one of the top selling consoles right now, if not the best. I hate it when people state opinions without true reason... Let me guess.. you're a Xbox fan? G-Cube? Don't make me laugh--

What is the top selling CPU? It sucks...
(No offense fanboys)
How it sells is only MARKETING, huge difference in marketing and actuall performance. I am a PC gamer, don't use consoles much, if I had to choose a console it would be my Xecuter 2.2 Chipped Xbox.
LMAO, So your saying that the top selling OS= XP sucks? And the top selling CPU= Intel sucks? LMAO, After just a little tweaking XP can run as lean and way more stable than any other OS, and saying a AMD outperforming a Intel is just denial. I do agree with you about X-Box though i like it way more than my PS2.Originally posted by Kyler1
