Interesting, Hummmmm? I changed it, It does seem to be speedy. What would this do?
I haven't read about this one anywhere. I got Windows XP Home on one of my clients on my Network,
with a Happy Duron 1.3 GHZ cpu.
I went into System Properties-> Advanced -> then pressed the Environment Variables button.
Then I saw in the System variables pane with a entrty of: NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS 1.
I switch this number to "2" and Windows XP is a lot faster! "Apps" and "windows" open faster...
this could just be a "timing increase" on the cpu or something like that...
I think Windows XP resets this Variable change after you restart the computer.
Tried to moved the number to "3" and it slows things down..
don't think it is a "overclock" because I don't see my CPU Temp any higher...
Any comments or fellow 'tech' reasons welcomed...
Be Happy 2 day.
Shinobi

Haven't looked at any "stats" yet... wondering if the cpu load is up higher... the one thing is, that at least there isn't any more heat on my cpu, so thats good. I see there is a lot of people
l@@king at this thread, if anyone would like to post your finding, please do so. Like to hear your input.
Later,

Computer startups and Internet Explorer open much more quickly. No increase in case temperature. Processor intensive functions such as speech recognition appear to be operating normally, perhaps faster than they normally did.
Since no one on the other forum would answer this question, would you please tell me the disadvantages and advantages of hibernating versus standby mode?
