    Damnit, here's a pisser.

not like I didn't expect this, but...I researched the online prices as best I could, found an average price around $115 or so, and decided that given the fish store normally asks $150 for this and he offered me a 20% discount trying to get rid of some back stock that I'd go with that. And I like having my paws on anything I buy right away

Just found a site with the same filter for $96 plus $11 shipping. $20 difference basically.

Question: do I install this thing and watch it clean the hell out of my aquarium RIGHT NOW or return it (burning another $5 in gas in the process) and buy it online at this new site with much better prices? I like supporting local stores but $20 is still $20 (ok, $15 after gas...I think I'll just install it).

It's $15 difference in price. If you don't value your time then by all means return the thing and order the same thing for less. If it was me I'd say **** it and use what I got.
    Respect it.

Given how much time I spend here, I'd say my time is mot worth much!

I agree with you, I've already said **** it and will be installing it momentarily I just wish I'd found this butt-cheap aquarium site sooner.

This thing is rated to 225 gallon per hour filtration

damn good idea, never occured to me.

Any ideas where I could get them? I know the zebra mussels are tearing through the east coast but not out here.

sure don't. i used to get mine from sandy creek beds where they bury at,but that was here in the southeast. they do good enough to keep a tank full of gold fish clean and they are dirty

    Back at you

man, this thing is going to kick some butt. Will filter 100% of the water 4 times per hour. These Oscars are damn messy, so this will help a lot with their water quality.
