Question Question regarding battery life expectation

I'm about to buy a digital camera (haven't decided which one quite yet) and was wondering about battery life. I've noticed that many of the cameras require and come with a recharger. I understand that battery life will be dependent on LCD usage etc but I was just curious how much usage I could expect in normal operation. The reason I ask is let's say I'm going on vacation... do I need to lug around the recharger or just possibly a couple of additional batteries?

All cameras are different, they all use different batteries with different capacities.

It's always a good idea to carry an extra battery or 2.

    btw, go Canon

    definately go canon.

my canon a40 uses 4 regular AA batteries or 4 rechargable AA batteries. i bought 2 sets of energizer rechargable batteries.

best investments ever. they last a long time, and they charge in 1 hour
