If your cd-rom won't read it or skips because it is scratched then no proggie is going to help you. You need to repair the orginal cd first.
Thinking of giving something like CloneCD a try.
Any other suggestions?

My son ... ask for thyself another internet connection, for that which I leave is too slow for thee
Q's always talking about some program that will try reading each bit and byte, however many times is needed.Originally posted by schlurpee

I've got a Linkin Park cd that's got tofu all over it
I need my angst!
if it's a pressed (original) cd, then find a used CD store-- they usually have industrial sized cd scratch repairers-- I've used that route once or twice, and the cd looked as good as new afterward. Some stores'll charge you a buck or two, and some will do it for free.
If your browser can't read unicode, you should probably switch!

What's that program you've mentioned? Either CloneCd or EAC or...?
EAC is for audio-- so if that's what you're trying to save, use that in paranoid mode, it will grab every last bit possible, just rip to plain WAV, then burn back to CD for the best possible copy. if it's data, then CloneCD can try, but sometimes even it will fail on moderately scratched CDsOriginally posted by Humboldt

I've used car polish to get a read on a scratched CD.
Polish the heck out of it then rip it before you get a finger print on it
Yep...or Brasso....and they even make a plastic polish. Just make sure you rub and polish from the center to the edge of the disc and not in a circle.Originally posted by Chris

Q man is also right on the money. If you polish is first, then use EAC to rip it....you can more than likely get a brand new sounding disc.
There are also cd polishing kits on the market. DR.X or at least that's as good as I can print how it's called here. It works pretty good if your disc isn't gouged too deep.
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn and the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.
