    finally bought a dvd+rw!

I've been watching ebay for a while now, although I didnt think I'd beat the price of the NEC avialable at newegg for 149.

    found this:

I won the bid at $92, figuring it was won because it was an early ending auction. Then I noticed this, after I bid of course:

This Auction is being Sold As-Is and is not subject to Return or Refund
ouch. They have over 15k feedback with 97% positive, so I do have some assurance. I've never gambled like this before. It's only a 2.4x, but I wanted cheap more then performance.

I had the Toshiba 2x a long time eats nearly all dvd-r as 2x !!!
    But I switched into a Pioneer 4x for +1 € EXTRA !!!

Now I have problems to burn 2x but I can get "cheap" 4x (Primedisc) >2€ per piece!

    I use DVDecrypter and DVD2ONE (ver 1.2.1)
Got every DVD Backup in rd. ~40 min. ripping till burning!

    thanks for the tips!

I've been doing vcd's for so long, this is a whole new world.

For making backups of DVD's, I still plan on using eazyvcd. I believe the quality of a vcd is amazing if you do it right.

I wanted the dvd burner for two reasons. For my own home movies, I want to be able to have a HUGE amount of space for home movies. I want oodles of hours, ONE disc. So, backups of my home movies in vcd format. maybe I'll change my mind on that. I have a lot of software/mp3/family pictures and wink, wink; I need to back that up too.

Another reason is a TINY business venture I have in mind. See my post here.

Thanks for your suggestions! I have a lot to learn.
