    Lap Top bootup

    Heya, fixing a computer.

Its a windows 98 (not se) lap top. It boots up Aok except when the windows desktop attempts to load the screen goes black, but everything boots properly. Scanreg/restore isn't fixing it. I would like to avoid reinstalling the OS. Any suggestions appreciated!

I figured this was a cross between software and hardware, so whatever. Its here now!

Sounds like a problem with the video drivers, boot into safe mode and uninstall the video drivers and reboot and let 98 reinstall the drivers.

I have a feeling you are going to have to re-format

Try installing 98 overtop itself, it's an easy fix that works allot of the time.
