    Help !!Secondary IDE

    My cd-r stop reading files.
    When I reebot the PC at setup I get following
    "secondary IDE channel no 80 conductor cabel install"
    I unistall the cd-r and reinstall but still problem

    Have you tried a different IDE cable?

    - Try going into the BIOS and auto-detecting the drives.

    - Check the jumper on the back of the CD-ROM drive and try setting it to CS (Cable Select) .

    And are you positive the cable isn't just loose?

    Are you using an 80 conductor cable or 40?
    Do you have another device ,harddrive maybe on that channel with the CD-r? I have an 80 on my pri and a 40 on my sec IDE. I got that BIOS error message when I put a harddrive on my sec IDE. My harddrive and my burner still worked with the 40 wire cable but not in udma mode. Once I took the harddrive out no more error message.
    I don't know the same things you don't know.
