Re: Black Friday and Holiday Deals 2024
I will go up to 4tb for further SSD purchases myself, to even out write wear, to have multiple sizes, and to conserve PCI slots.

Re: Black Friday and Holiday Deals 2024
I loaded up on a few Samsung SSDs already, got a 2tb and a 4tb, also upgraded my CPU/MoBo about a year ago, so skipping this round for personal stuff.
I will likely buy a couple of Dell desktops to replace my brothers' older office PCs, I keep them on ~5 year rotation as cheap workstations.

My best guess is that site history is different than site data (cookies, cache, etc.)
You can manually delete sites from the History menu, not sure if it can be automated.

Looks like Trump won.
I think there was no real evidence to support the "voting fraud" claims, even pres. Trump and the MAGA crowd should agree now that he won (even if it's a bit self-serving ;) )

I would try 8 queues with a separate PCI brand name NIC like Intel I suppose, but 4 queues is perfectly fine.

One of the candidates is not ready to concede, so it will be "interesting" for sure, I hope there is no crisis, and people are able to move forward together, regardless of party affiliation. I'm independent, and kind of tired of the divisiveness.

I am expecting issues tonight, Pennsylvania and potentially some other swing states will report results late, so I don't know if we'll have a clear winner tonight at all.
I will be watching, will try to tune-in later as I don't usually go to bed before midnight anyway.

I would just use fewer queues if it works better for you, it is also dependent on the NIC driver and other factors, not necessarily only the cores.

Looks nice, glad you found a good place. Inland is pretty safe if you're not in a flood zone. The coastline appeals to me as well, but not flood insurance and wind impact, heh. I bought the wifey a 2024 Honda HR-V a year ago, has about 9k miles on it now. Smaller than the Pilot, but excellent mileage, and since kids grew up we don't seem to need a bigger SUV anymore (well, I do have a 6-cyl older 2011 BMW X3 with a tow hitch that can pull a boat).

Very easy to see color, hehe
I prefer my cars silver/gray.
I do have a 2003 Harley Softail Deuce with only ~20k miles on it, but I don't get to ride much lately. I do call it my smart car, it does 40+ mpg, but treadwear on tires is much lower than cars, we're comparing Harleys and oranges.

Re: EnableWsd (TCP autotuning diagnostic tool) on or off
Interesting find... It suggest that setting it to zero disables decisions of whether TCP Window Scaling (RFC1323) is on or off. In most current broadband environments it is set to ON, so I doubt it will make any noticeable difference, not sure if the setting is applicable to Windows 10/11 either ...

Re: Bufferbloat doesn't want to give me an A + :-(
No, the test just gives you a lower score if your TCP Buffers are larger, because there is a potential that when nodes are congested you may oversaturate their memory with your packets, then they may start dropping your packets to slow you down. So the test recommends you to use smaller buffers, and ...

Maybe the TCP Optimizer is reading the setting from a different network adapter in your particular case, not sure why. It reads them from a Registry hive, I'd have to look into it further.

Re: Bufferbloat doesn't want to give me an A + :-(
I wouldn't recommend that on a broadband connection though, you're limiting your throughput in order to MAYBE reduce packet loss and retransmissions IF a node near you is congested AND it starts dropping YOUR packets in THEIR buffer, which is not normal conditions scenario.
