First fire (fireplace) of the season
It's nowhere as cold here in So Cal as it is in other parts of the country but we decided to have our first fire while Mrs. Easto decorated the tree and the front room. It looks like I'm going to need to make another run to the firewood supplier. Last year I got too much hardwood and it's not really ...

Re: Picking up relatives at LAX
Was a "week" enough? I've offered to take Mrs. Easto there a couple of times but due to her work she can only afford 1 week off at a time. I was just worried that we would feel rushed.

It's starting to look like the prices are starting to go back up again. It also appears that many vendors only had a limited about of stock at those prices.

Re: Cyber Monday?
One thing I've noticed is that many of the items are sold out. Even a Samsung SSD I was looking at (2tb for $119) wasn't even available at Samsung. But I think you're right. The deals are all what we're seeing now. I think they're only going to go up from here.

Re: Picking up relatives at LAX
For 2 miles I only drove at 1mph. From the time we were at the offramp until we got the the point where you could pick Arrivals or Departures took 2 hours! It was worse than I could have ever imagined. The good news is that I found out that we're not dropping them back off this evening. We're ...

I think you're absolutely right. Everyone wants all the functionality they can get without having to bother with any of the details. Re: We seem to lose wireless connectivity
You cannot drill down and see an individual devices usage. You can see it's up/down speeds but that's it. I don't think you can do that without paying for their subscription service in order to set and set QoS settings. My ASUS would show me websites accessed by device including the total usage for ...

Picking up relatives at LAX
I just found out that my wife's sister is flying into LAX at 9pm Wednesday and guess who has to go get her? LAX is an iconic nightmare to deal with around the holidays and now I'm going to be doing it the night before Thanksgiving. Well, there goes 3-4 hours down the drain.

Re: We seem to lose wireless connectivity
I've got the new router working but I'm a little concerned. This thing has no where near the granularity of the ASUS router. The management GUI feels like it was made for a child. I've been looking over and over the thing and it appears that some of the expected security features are not available ...

That TP-Link ARcher AXE 7800 is only $199 at Best Buy and they have them in stock. Costco wants $279 for the same thing. None of my clients are 6ghz yet. Looks like I might be visiting BB soon.

I think I need a new Router
I currently have a Asus RT-AC3200 which seems to do everything we require (currently having problems with it and I think I need to start looking for a new one). Requirements: Only hardwired to 1 PC with 2 phones and an iPad. Virtually no gaming either wired or wireless. Our cable connection is 300 ...

Keeping an eye on Black Friday Sales
I blew it last time, so this year I think will be the year I get a 2nd NVME drive along with a boost in memory size. If the Ryzen 9 5950X would go on sale I'd be open for that purchase too.
This time I'm keeping track of these prices so when BF rolls around I'll know if it's a good deal or not.

We seem to lose wireless connectivity
Lately, more often than I'd like I seem to be losing connectivity from our router. Not for long, maybe 5-10-15 minutes at a time. All indications i.e. router and modem lights all show we have connectivity but I'll lose it on my phone (it will revert to 5G) and my hardwired PC loses it too. Where or ...

^^ Yeah, I realize there isn't any way to really nail it down and there would be no use in researching it further. It's just sort of sad, I went for so so long being virtually spam free. My wife's gmail account is one that gets hit probably 20 times a day, it's a mess.

I'm starting to get a lot of Spam
For the last 20 years I've been fortunate enough to able to avoid getting hit with a lot of spam. Actually, up until about 9 months ago I might get 1 spammy email twice a month. I mean, really, I thought I was blessed. I've never received a Nigerian Prince email. Nothing like that at all. But then ...

I guess they're cracking down on ad blockers. They just caught me and it's a pain in the ass. They also sort of force you to turn you viewing history on too (which I have off). It was bad enough clicking through the commercials on my TV, but now on my PC? NO.
