I have changed DNS servers, it appears to have solved or at least reduce the delays.
A number of other non PC issues have come up so I haven't had time to dive in any deeper.

I'm taking a closer look at the loading times to see if I can narrow down any specific site(s) or circumstances which may be easier said then done. :(

The edited DNS address in the O/S supersedes whatever is in the Router?

Networking is confusing, between the abbreviations, acronyms and the tons of terms, many of which seem to overlap or...

Then I would have to delete the DNS entries in the Router?

I have run both of those programs. A few odds & ends IIRC, but nothing worth while.

I run static IP addresses on all my equipment set within the device, NOT thru the Router. Some don't seem to...

I run dd-wrt firmware and there is a 'adblock' option, it's disabled by default which is the way I left it.
  8. Initial delay accessing websites, once there, little problems

Hard to describe this other than I have noticed a somewhat long delay (5-10 seconds) from the time I click a bookmark and the site starts to load.
I run a data activity application (Bit Meter) and...

I fully understand if it was a 'new' device, but it's not, nor did the MAC change. The only change was a different 3rd party F/W.
Isn't the only thing the is any issue is a devices MAC address??

This is only a Modem, I have NO control over it other than a power switch and the ability to change a unneeded password.

Router & Modem WAN IP address questions

Trying to understand the events involved for a Router to get recognized with a WAN IP address thru a Modem. This is with a CATV ISP (Spectrum/TWC if that matters)

    Flashing the firmware, or any...

I plan on doing some more testing, but that isn't a priority right now. I have never had real fast transfers, even between similar machines, transfers are not a weekly or even monthly occurrence.

    Mbps is bits isn't it?
It isn't the 95 figure I was concerend about, it's the less than 50, as low as 11Mbps I don't like.
  15. There is one thing I missed, the Switch is only...

There is one thing I missed, the Switch is only 100Mb which would account for the 95Mb top speed, but shouldn't account for nothing else.

What I meant by the "apples to apples" was same file, same path, same hardware at each end.
I did forget to mention I use BitMeter as a data speed monitor tool (on both boxes), not that lame M$ file...

Both cards are gigabyte. Win7 is 64 bit, XP Pro sp3 is 32 bit (I forget to add)
But, all of the above doesn't explain why initiating from one machine or the other affects transfer/speed/time. The...
  18. Transferring same file between PC's one direction is faster than the other

    I hope this is the right place to ask this. here is the situation;

    No and yes of course.

One thing (other than your question) is when the new Modem was provisioned/authorized, the Router was not connected at the time since I have VoIP and I wouldn't of been able...
  21. Swapped Modems, same model, static WAN IP, Router couldn't reconnect

No Firewall in Router or in O/S
Static IP addresses for all my devices except for a ATA (Obi202)
Nothing special or fancy in the LAN.
All wired except for a Laptop.

    Long story short, I...

The 'peak' hours I'm usually not accessing the Internet. I'm probably will stick with the Zoom since it's been mounted on a removable board with the ATA, router & a switch ;)

How about the advantages with the additional 'channel bonding'?
  26. 16 channel vs 8 channel modems 60Mbps Spectrum Cable; is their any real difference?

I have a Zoom 5341J 8 ch. down 4 ch. up modem. Spectrum gave me (for troubleshooting their issue not related to the modem) a Arris TM1602a eMTA (combo modem & ATA) that has 16 in & 4 out channels....
