Is there any limit to how many times you can clone a drive? Does it create extra overhead on the copy or anything like that?
For the money I think that's a great setup! :thumb: Certainly better than what you have now.
Give us an update when you get it together.
I hear nLite has a Vista version now. I bet it would run okay if you slimmed it down some.
Thanks for helping me decide! Gonna go with door #2. :thumb:
Pricing out my new system and had a question. Basically, here are the choices:
1. Intel C2D E6550 + GeForce 8600GTS
or
2. Intel C2D E4500 + ATI Radeon HD3850
I'm a light gamer, mostly...
Browse the disk that came with your mobo. The SATA drivers should be on there.
Definitely. Set up whatever partitions you want on the new drive and then clone to the partition you want.
I have a Westell 6100 running to a Sonicwall TZ 150 and my work comp and personal comp behind that. I did a windows repair install and now my personal comp can't access the internet. Everything is...
I recently started having problems with the old trusty ATI Radeon 9600 Pro. Every time I reboot, I have to reinstall drivers to get the thing recognized in device manager. I've uninstalled,...
Ok, i'm letting it sit on chkdsk /r (still sitting at 11% tho).
Here is what I think the problem is though. I have two HDs in my system. One for OS and programs and the other for storage....
Chkdsk came back with volume appears to be in good condition and was not checked. So I did chkdsk /p and it's hanging at 11%.
Is my HD toast now?
And thanks for your help!
on an XP Home installation. Gets to Windows loading screen then reboots. I've tried last known good configuration and safe mode, but it still reboots.
Don't know much about troubleshooting and...
Are these fast enough to put your swap file on? Or maybe load a whole OS on them? I've never got to play with one and was gonna pick one up just to play around with.
Whoa! $30 to go from a 3800 single core to a x2 3800! That's crazy good value. Can't wait till the price drop.
Be sure to back up your data before running any disk diagnostic. If your HD is on its last leg, one of those utilities may kill it.
I've still got my old 950mhz Tbird and the Iwill KK266 it went in. My first build. *sniffs*
It'll be interesting to see how far it goes before it pops. :)

I'm on Bellsouth aDSL on a Westell 6100 modem. Behind a Sonicwall Tele2 is a Netgear switch with lines that go to two separate computers. Never had these issues before I added the Sonicwall and the...
Right now my setup is: DSL modem -> Sonicwall firewall -> work computer.
If I need to use my home computer I just switch the output from the DSL modem to my home computer's ethernet card. I'm...
Whew! Thanks, I'm back up and running. Never had a prob with XP so I didn't know what to do.
Now if I can just figure out why my drive disappeared for no reason.....
I figured no big deal I'll just back up to a restore point a week ago when it was still there and that should fix it. Now windows won't load. The comp stops at a blue screen telling me to do a chkdsk...
Heh, Intel knows their dual-cores don't compete with AMD's performance wise. Might as well win the price battle. :rotfl:
Hyperthread, shmyperthead. You got a socket 939. Wait for the dual cores to come out later this year.
You can use your uber laptop for the video stuff till then.
Looks like your case can handle 4 80mm fans, 2 in front and 2 in back. Ideally, the fronts the should pull in air and the back fans exhaust it out. If you have different speed fans put the faster...
Sounds like you have poor air flow through your case to me. Have you tried cleaning up cables and such? A case fan put in backward maybe?
Other than that, you may just have a Barton that runs hot....
That's because you're running PC1600 mem vs PC2100 in the example. If you're running different brands/speeds of ram, you need to make sure the memory timings are set to the slowest memory you have....
He's gonna hit the swap file whether he has 128 or 192 megs of memory. He's still gotta boot the thing up which probably takes a couple of years with the current setup. I think he'll see a good...
I'd put another 64MB stick in there and grab a 5400rpm notebook HD for it. (I'm assuming it's got a 4200 rpm'er in there.) You can get a Samsung 40GB with 8MB cache for $68 at Newegg. That way you're...
Glad you got it worked out! :thumb:
