It depends on the server end what it does with, and whether it uses packets timestamps I suppose.
I can see it helping if the server uses timestamps to measure the roundtrip time/latency and...
This looks great, you've added quite a bit to it. Pastebin seems private (or awaiting moderation)
"Error, this is a private paste or is pending moderation."
I don't know, I'm still not sure about those rodents in the attic though ;)
Whoa, great price indeed. You can maybe find other M.2 storage similarly priced, but not a reputable brand with those x4 PCIe transfer speeds and impressive 1800 TBW rating for the 1tb capacity. The...
"Harley muffler welded to it" whoa :)
I have a friend who put a military 6k diesel generator on his wife's food truck, the thing is very quiet and can run for years.. Got it at some military...
Yeah, I don't see much lower prices, but at least now they're available.
Haven't seen the movie, never heard the story. I will watch it, thanks for the pointer.
That trace looks fine, nothing stands out. As a side note, traceroutes and pings use ICMP (not TCP or UDP) in most operating systems, including Windows. This means its packets can be treated...
The first actual computer with a monitor I played on extensively was in the mid-80s, I was in middle school.. The machine was an eastern european Apple II+ clone (Pravetz 8M), dual-processors with...
It can definitely be congestion.
Pings/latency measure the roundtrip time to the server and back, so it measures packets in both directions. Again, the only caveat being that pings (ICMP packets)...
Excellent question... You should be able to, but at the bottom of the page you have to choose "Full Site > Go Advanced"... Then attach your image the same as on a desktop. As far as I remember the...
Thanks for the kind words guys! Just doing my part to keep it up. The platform may be aging a bit, but I'm reluctant to change it into one of those phone sites. Cheers.
How are you measuring packet loss?
In general, ICMP pings get low priority, and overcrowded routers/backbones will start dropping those packets if deemed excessive, especially at peak times.
Also,...
Interesting... Didn't realize your county was like the cannabis capital.
Hi Steve, welcome to SG.
Could be something other than TCP settings, related to time of day, how overloaded your neighborhood connections are, or the game server... Or it can even be your PC...
Nah, just "seasoned", I'm trying to keep the same :D
Hi MD, welcome to the club ;)
Hehe, wow, you're right, you've been around a couple of those years.
5/5/1999 is when I registered the speedguide.net domain, and pretty much that's when I got serious about developing the content on the site, when this journey got real for me. It's always been about...
Sorry to hear.. :/ Sounds like this is the culprit though.
See if packet loss subsides when it all dries up well?
I would also put some dielectric grease on connectors to deter water intrusion....
Argh, I remember those mechanical sliders with the carbon paper, I feel old now, thanks ;)
Pushups are so much work though ;)
I don't get the flu shot either, I think the success rate of those is pretty low. Covid is a different story though, I went and got vaccinated early Pfizer, got...
Great to hear! Thanks for following up.
Good, glad faqs are helpful :)
And yeah, that cable run is the most likely culprit.
It is fine to have a break point outside the house, just try to have a strait run from there to the modem, without using splitters if possible (taps are ok).
Upstream attenuators help the modem...
Facebook/Meta is profitable, and has a large active user base. As YOSC said, the users that left are mostly teens with different fast-paced needs, but FB seems to be the go-to place for social...
I imagine the program has some issue reading the settings at start under LTSC, good that it's applying them properly at least.
There are a number of speed test sites, you can simply try downloading a large file from a distant server to see actual speeds. I would test at speedtest.net, however, I would change to a different...
I imagine the Powershell cmdlets do not show the same results, or netsh... I would try:
Get-NetTCPSetting -SettingName "Internet"
netsh int tcp show global
