Re: I'm really liking this case
I will agree that the ONLY thing that gives me pause is what you mentioned about the mesh side. I can envision that being a huge dust collector. I wouldn't mind something with a solid side panel but for some reason I do not want glass. Fortunately I have some time before committing to anything. What ...

I'm really liking this case
This Fractal North XL looks really nice.
https://www.fractal-design.com/products/cases/north/north-xl/charcoal-black/
I also like that they offer it with a mesh side. Unless something new comes along I think this is on top of my list right now. I might even pass on the XL and just get the standard ...

Re: SAMSUNG 990 PRO 2TB
Back in the day when I was buying computer stuff I would use Camel/Camel to keep track of the prices but it got too clunky and I deleted it. I need something good to track prices.

WOW! That was fast. Newegg raised the price $10 over night. It is now $189. Yikes.

Re: SAMSUNG 990 PRO 2TB
The 2tb 990 pro is now back up to $179.... ouch! It looks like a lot of prices have taken a BIG jump in the last week. I should have scooped of a handful of them at $133 when I had the chance. I doubt we'll see that price again.

The 1tb went back up to $159. From $133 to $159, amazing. I hope this is an indication that prices may drop considerably for Black Friday.

Here's something weird about the Newegg sale... The have the 4tb drive for sale at $319. But they have the same 4tb drive with a heatsink for $259. Do you think that's a misprint?

SAMSUNG 990 PRO 2TB
Newegg has these for $133.49 and that's about the lowest I've seen them in a long while. They usually seem to drift between $169 / $159 / $149. I don't think they were this low even during the last black Friday sales.

This is another thing that at least to me hasn't seemed to be around much at all for a long time. Back in the day it was a way that someone with some spare CPU time could dedicate their PC to a worthy cause. Is this all but gone?

For the last 2 weeks we've been in the hovering in the 80's and 90's but we're also getting hit with 60% and above humidity. For So Cal that level of humidity is just unbearable.

It seems like any news regarding these massive bitcoin mining companies has all but disappeared. You don't seem to seen all the little articles about some guy in Baltimore with a huge mining operation in his garage and stuff like that.

Should I do a fresh install of Win 11?
Up until about 5 of months ago everything was running great. Actually, everything still runs pretty darn good! But lately as I've added a few new USB devices and Programs and I've noticed things running a bit slower. Probably not slower where someone else would notice, things just don't seems as ...

Same here. I learned to type on a manual typewriter in 9th grade. Ever since we've entered the computer age I will not settle for anything less that a full-size keyboard...I want a calculator layout on the side and all the arrows I can get!

This thing is really holding up well. I wish I could compare it against some of their other models but I don't have the money to have 3 or 4 spare keyboards laying around just so I can see how they perform. But so far I'm sold on this puppy.

I'll definitely look into a Pixel next time. I don't use my phone for email, banking or anything like that. Probably my biggest gripe is that it appears that most manufacturers are not giving you the opportunity to install MicroSD cards anymore. You have to buy them with the configuration you want.

Android. I believe something like an S21(?). It's just in a complete auto reboot mode no matter what I try. Even with a total reset it's still giving me problems. Although my next build is still probably over a year away, I have no real interest in gaming and I could only see myself buying something at $500 or less. And the only reason I'd pay close to that was to ensure a solid product that was going to last years.

Re: Continuous boot issue of my computer
Personally, I'd just look for a new computer. But, if you want... I'm sure you could find another PIII 550 somewhere on eBay for under $40. You've got a VERY old computer there and things are probably just going to keep failing as time goes by.
Edit: Honestly, it sounds like your HDD failed.
