Os?

What OS are you running on these machines?

I had a similar problem on a Windows 2000 machine and it turned out to be the user account. I had to have the exact same user account on both machines before I could "browse" the Win2000 machine.

Got this off of the Netgear website...looks like it is PC only. :nope:
Probably because of the installation software.

Not familiar with D-Link cards, but my Microsoft and Netgear cards if the lights are blinking that is not a good thing. When I have a good connection the lights are solid.

Unless there is a reason for turning of DHCP I would recommend allowing the router to hand out the IPs...that way the router ...

Unless your printer has an ethernet port already (network ready), I would recommend the NETGEAR PS101 print server. It attaches directly to the existing printer port and allows you to run ethernet directly to your router. The PS101 is a single printer type of port. If you have multiple printers that ...

dhcp problem

if you are still having a problem go into your router setup and disable DHCP and reassign your router IP to 192.168.0.100 (or something other than 192.168.0.1)...I had this problem when I was trying to share my dial-up connection via my router.

The ICS computer wants to hand out IPs and if DHCP is ...

password required to connect?

This should be an easy question for most of you, but it has me stumped.

My home network consists of a couple desktops running 98SE, and two laptops running XP and Windows 2K, respectively. From my 2K laptop I can access files on any of the other machines with no problem. However, when I try to go ...

links from webpage don't work (sometimes)

Here is my setup:

Sharing dialup connection via Netgear router. One additional computer connected via wire (let's call it wiredClient) and up to two laptops connected at any one time. Everything works great, all computers can see each other, all computers can access the internet, but the ...

I am currently using a Netgear router (WGR614v2). I connect wirelessly to the router using a Microsoft (MN-720) and a Netgear (WG511) adapter. I don't really notice any difference between the two cards. However, there are some who will tell you to "keep it in the family".

I also had some trouble at first with WEP. Depending on your network card you may be able to enter the same "passphrase" that you entered at the router. However, on my MN-720 card I had to enter the actual encrypted key to get WEP to work. Took a few tries to understand the difference. Highly ...

Netgear is a good choice...Linksys and D-Link are other popular brands for homenetworking.

I am using the same router with a WG511 (wireless) card with no problems.

"ditch the dial-up"...now that is something that I have thought about very seriously. Unfortunately, I am too far away for DSL and I do not currently subscribe to cable, so to get cable would cost me close to $60...not ready to bite that yet.

cant browse w/ new router

Just installed a Netgear WGR614 router. I can access shared files and printer just fine, with my desktop and laptops. :)

My desktop is connected to the internet via dialup, but when I connect nothing happens. My computer is sending data but not receiving. If I power down the router everything ...
