Had a very nice storm system run through the area on saturday night (for a change) and I managed to get some really nice lightning shots

My oldest daughter gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on the 14th, both her and the baby are doing beautifully

As many of you probably know, I'm big into photography and aviation. I'm third generation aviation - my grandfather on my mom's side was a Corsair pilot during WWII, my grandfather on my dad's side had his hand in Army aviation from the late 50's going forward. My father began his aviation career as a Huey pilot in Vietnam in '69-'70, and soon went to work for Bell Helicopter as a test pilot up until he retired last year. And then with me, I joined the Navy in 1988 as an aviation electronics ...

On a sad day in aviation today, the Liberty Belle crashed enroute from Chicago to Indianapolis. A fire had started while in flight, and the pilot had to put down in a corn field. Fortunately, the crew and passengers all made it safely off the aircraft, but the Belle is a total loss. Just looking at some of the pictures that have been posted on flickr, it's a mess. There's really not much hope for restoring it now

At least I had my day in the sun flying on her back in September. ...
