View Full Version : Is that a "right" mem speed for my setup??

Hi!
I have this Abit KD7 quite a long time (>2 months) and I ask me if it as fast as a KT400 @DDR400 cl2.5 should be?!?

All others with 333+ mem settings have a higher result in the sisoft sandrasī database...?!?!

look here

the module

Thank you

I get the same results at DDR400 speeds and Cas2.5 on the KD7-RAID as well

Even at DDR333 and Cas2 and agressive memory timmings mine are still around 2000MB/sec

I don't know whats up with that

i need to check out some KD7 reviews and see what other reviewers got on their memory scores...

maybe its because the FSB is independent of the DRAM bus?

maybe if you clocked the FSB at the same speeds as the memory bus then you'd see an increase

I dunno

Yes that may be the answer!

If the FSB/MEM speeds are:
166/200 or 200/200 the sisoft mem - speeds would be higher then our 133/200 cl2.5 (rd. 2700-3200 mb/s)

I wait until my XP2700+ (166fsb) is <200 EUR ! Then my A7M266-D and KD7 would be both happy!!!! AND me 2

it's correct but not good. if you look at his pic, it shows a theoretical max of like 3200 MB/s ... reason is if the fsb is lower (brent u hit it on the nail)..the athlon can't really make any use of that extra mem bandwidth...if u want to insrease ur score..keep ur mem speed the same and increase your fsb.. try lowerin the mult if it's unlocked..if it isn't---pray it'll run at 166MHz fsb.

I've read that the KT400 is a disapointment. You'll see no differernce in performance between the 400 and the 333 and if you do, the 333 yields better results. My guess was , they tossed out the kt400 boards for the sharks to bite on till they had time to bring out the Nforce. Then again, this is just a guess, lol.

If i had a choice, i'd dump that KT400 board and get an Nforce or a decent KT333. Don't get me wrong, the KT400 IS nice, but not as nice as the KT333.

Too bad it was a waste to make :(

its not a waste

it supports AGP 8X and some other things...

what we are comparing here is DDR333 vs. DDR400 speeds, not the KT333 chipset versus the KT400 chipset....

I'd be looking for the divider support I need for DDR333 support and DDR400, just for over clocking.
