i would make c drive like 10 gigs and put programs on it, tweak it how you like and install what you always need then image it. Mine is 15 gigs and i have all kinds of crap on it that i never even use and still have almost 9 gigs free.

I made a seperate drive just for games and the rest i use for random storage. I also have an 80 gigger that i use for backups.

I just wanted to say I agree... although I've found that 15gigs is better cause it was too tight for me at 8 before. I also like having a seperate gaming partition of 15gigs.

I would made a third with the rest. Doing any more then that can be bad. Let's say you need more room for mp3's or less room for storing this and that... a third paritition is perfect for all that stuff.

I like having the gaming parititon for two reasons. First of all, it protects them in case of format... well it'll protect most games. Also, games often frag to heck... saves the other drives (partitions)

I use 5g for windows98 5g for windows2k 5g for windowsxp and 25 for storage.
Plus another HD for backups, images of my partitions etc etc. 5g 5g and 10g

Small partitions get better benchmarks. You may want to use 10 for the OS's. I keep my OS's lean so don't need more than 5g.

Most people like to install everything under the sun so they can spend all thier time fixing things, but not me :D

That is how I have my partitions setup. WinMe=5GB, WinXP=6GB and Win98SE used to be about 3GB but decided to uninstall it. For my programs, the many that I have, I set set up a 15G'er but only needed about 7G'z. My Mp3'z have a 25GB space which is 50% full, and backup/saved data files set up in a 4GB partition. I also have a 1.2GB Swapfile partition for WinMe. Game'z are set on another 20G'er. All I need now is to get another HD to backup or image what I've got.

I have 2HD for 110GB. My partitions are:

5GB for OS
3GB for SWAP (nothing in there)
20GB for programs (although I wish I put more there.. running low!)
50GB for storage
30GB for more storage (my other drive - unpartitioned)
