XP's are substantially better than the older T-Birds. Even at the same actual clock speeds, improved internals.

Didn't even know you could still get the old T-Birds, thought they were long disco'd.

heh.... "disco'd". haven't heard that since i worked for Time Warner.

anyhow, what YoSC said. better and more robust special instruction set support. at this point in time, there is no question about which is better (technology-wise). there is more to a CPUs real-world performance than clock speed.

I'll take the xp1600 over the T-bird any day. First of all when you try and oc a t-bird, you better have a liquid cooling set-up cuz those babies get real hot when oc'ed !!

Second, the price for the xp1600 speaks for itself. Alot cheaper than the T-bird

Third, You might get lucky and get the AROIA Y stepping which is the one i have :D

Go with the XP1600, you won't be disappointed ;)

1.33 and 1.4 Tbirds OC better, if u only need pure FPU power an 1.4tbird would then be better, but some 1600XPs oc quite well now too!

Ain't no challenge. I have the original Marbaliscious 8k3a+ REV 1.0 since early April.Know this board like the back of my .............ASS. That Abit will never compete,to many voltage options on the EPOX . Notice 1X512 PC2700 SAMSUNG ORIGINAL.Just got 2 AROIA Y week 13 chips today.By the time I'm done with em LT will be cryin'

Fish won already, I think LT can't keep his stable at 1901Mhz or above. Even with the volt mod and pushed up the voltage, still get lock ups.

My dad says XP1600 definately out performed his T-bird 1.4Ghz

Just tested 1 of 2 AROIA Y week 13 processors and 1900mhz ,10x190, is the best I could do stable.Needed 2.5volts to get there. Right in line with LT-73. So maybe the mobo isn't the determining factor, but the chip is.The AGOIA out performs by 50mhz,not a big deal when talking about a chip that costs around $50.00

Yes, agree. from 1.4Ghz to 1.9Ghz is good enough and nothing to complain for a $50 chip. What mobo you using Fish?
