If you wanna make your CD-RW faster, Click me (http://www.cdfreaks.com/news2.php3?ID=4169)

So far (that I know of) it only works for Lite-On burners (a lot of manufactors use that drive though.. like TDK)

I've got the 40x one and I'm tempted to make it 48X...

Ya, most ppl have the 2B, like me, which sux, but 32x is only like 10 secs faster than 24x anyways, so i don't really care

Seems like the 48x CAV burners can write a full CD in 3min, while Zone CLV burners take bout 4min, so that is a noticeable improvement

ssj, what kinda CD-Rs you using for 48x burning? Use NeroCDSpeed and run the Overburning test, plz tell me what the dye type is, and the manufactuer, as well as whats on the CD label (ie brand and "rated" speed)

Oh, that pic wasn't a screenshot from my computer. It was from the homepage of CDFreaks (http://www.cdfreaks.com). I was just showing how long it takes to burn a full CD at 48X.

RE: CD media

From CDFreaks website
We tried about 10 different brands of CD-R discs and only discs from CMC Magnetics and Acer media technology would write at 48X. We also wrote an Acer (Only 12X certified!) disc at 48X and it was also 100% readable!!! We also tried several other disc brands at lower speeds and in all cases the write qualty seemed to be very high. Yes we are impressed of the quality of the produced discs.

I'm too scared to o/c my NEW drive.. 30 seconds is not enough increase for me to 'upgrade'

Oh, new firmwares have been released (http://www.cdfreaks.com/news2.php3?ID=4187).
