Hey guys, I was tired last night when I posted in the Maxtor thread as Philip & I had just returned from the AMD Tech Tour.

I thought it a good idea to share some of the insider info learned, with you guys! ;) Who luvs ya! :D

Yes, it is true! Serial ATA will be available on Seagates Barracudas shipping in the later part of July!
For the ATA people, this is great news as it is much better than parallel...
I won't go into details as you can learn about it here:
http://www.serialata.org/
I do recommend you getting familar with it as ATA will be steered in this direction...
Yes, 8 devices per channel!
Serial ATA can be used with todays devices by means of a processor card. Seagate will supply the processor cards for a while, if I remember correctly, so you may want to jump quick when they come out... ;)

Seagate is phasing out 5K and will only be making 7400 rpm HDD's and faster! The others will follow Seagates lead soon.
10K ATA HDD's will be happening...maybe... :p

For the SCSI Cheetah people, July will also bring the 73GB Cheetah 15,000 RPM! Yeah baby, can you guess who will be using those?! :D Oh and all Seagate Cheetahs from July on will be Ultra 360!!! We have wood!!!

But, for concrete wood, wait til Hammer comes to town! Hammer time! Hammer is the "Bad Boy"!! Kick A$$!! No more North Bridge!! Yes, you read correctly, NorthBridge will be obsolete when the Hammer comes to town! hehheheheeheheeh
8.4 MB tunnel!! Hyper Transport technology! hehhehehheheheheheeheheh WOOT!!!!
Totally different! Quad processors running through a 8.4 MB
tunnel! Up to 8, did I say 8? hehehheeheh

You guys don't want no links, do ya? :p
Talk to me, who wants the secret links? hehheheheheheee

Well, you know the problems that IBM has had to deal with... There was guys there basically trying to give away IBM's, selling them unbelievably cheap, but the tech people wanted no part of them...

Really though, Yardy, I don't know as IBM wasn't there. AMD's major players were there, basically Seagate for HDD's...
ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, Tyan, Nvidia, LSI Logic, 3ware, Phoenix, VIA, Matrox...

Man they had some bad boy dual and triple monitor setups!! The were making lines in the restroom to spank the monkey after viewing some of the set ups!
You ever play Quake with triple monitors! ;)
