Uncle wants to do some video editing and was wondering if the ATI All in one wonder 128Meg would be better for vid editing than a G4Ti4600..He dosent play any games.. I belive he said his sys is a Dell 1.4 with 512 Sdram.
Im thinking a G3 and bump his ram to a Gig..Any opinions?
Ty in advance
ATI All In Wonder 8500 series for SURE
now my question
how much is he willing to spend?
The AIW 8500 DV is the most expensive one, it has only 64MB of RAM and runs at 230/230 but it has FireWire built in
The AIW 8500 128MB runs at a full 275/275 and has everything the 8500DV has minus the firwire, and is cheaper (this is the one i think he should go with) ( you can always get a firewire card if he needs it)

Either...ATI used to have the edge...but if anyone's SERIOUS about video editing, their moving onto beefier software than what comes with the cards anyways (which ATI used to have the advantage on), something like Studio DV Pro. Firewire card's come with that, and aren't expensive either.

just checked pricewatch, your right
Find out more info from him. If he has a DV camera, then he will DEFINATELY want to stick with a DV card, or at least any OHCI compatible one.
Find out how serious he wants to go with this. If he's just looking to edit down some birthday videos, than "anything" would be fine. If he's looking for more, let us know.
