When should u replace u're hard drive. The hard drive on on of my pc's is almost 5 years old. I'm just afraid of it crashing and losing all of my stuff! :(

quantums go for a long time (well the good ones, the rest are like maxtors [/looks at sig :)] they die quick).. i would back your stuff up regularly..e.g. a ghost..and not worry about it.

it's not my rig (specs below)...it the rig that my sister is using. It's got 2 3gb hd's. One is about 2 yesrs old and the other one is 5 years old....would it be wise to get a new one to replace the 5 year old drive?

Really depends on what brand, speed, and how much it was used... My Quantum KX 7200rpm 13gigger is dying after 4 years of me torturing it. It was my main drive, so I boot off it, run games/apps off it, etc, and I leave my comp on 24/7 most of the time, downloading

If your drive is 5400rpm, then it'll last longer for sure, and if it was only used lightly, and from a good company, i'd expect 10yrs from it

i got around 7-8 years from a quantum fireball 3.8 giger i had.. it was kewl.. ran forever...as my main drive.. etc..and later as a secondary..then it finally just died.. i'd again just back stuff up, or if you have the money, get a 20 gig for cheap and pop it in as the main drive
