Need a new monitor and thinking about going LCD. Anyone know the pros and cons vs a crt?:)
CRT:
Cons: Big, uglier, tougher on eyes unless u get one w/ really good refresh rates (75 is ok but 85+ at your normal reso is better)
Pros: wider viewing angle, better redraw for gaming etc, cheaper.. lots cheaper..
LCD:
Cons: expensive, lower viewing angle (like 130 degrees usually), not as good for gaming
Pros: nicer, smaller, lower energy usage, great for graphics, 3d work, etc.. easier on eyes and lower glare

Personally I am just about to get an LCD as I reckon they're good for what I need - easy on the eyes. They are expensive though, you can get a 19" Diamondtron Pro920 NF CRT or a 15" Samsung 151 (equivalent to 17" CRT) LCD for the same monies.
Personally I'm gonna go dual monitor and keep the old CRT hooked up so that I can get the best of both worlds :D
Do a search on the forum though, there've been some good discussions here recently...

Flat CRT:
bigger, better for gaming
mitsubishi/nec/kds/sony have great looking tubes(sony and mitsubishi are the only 2 that make tubes of those listed)
LCD:
expensive
low view angle
most are not good for gaming
good clear picture as well
