View Full Version : It's Time to post about our user names...
Yes, it has been a while...
So, let's hear the details about your user name...
This thread was inspired by Dave, whom you will hear from shortly... ;)
I am Ken, short for Kenneth, my first name.
Grimson
03-01-02, 08:16 PM
Recently accquired Stu Grimson, he joined the Nashville Predators last year. He has the image of a true badass. Not to mention I'm a badass too.
:):D
I just like him because I saw him knock a guy out with one punch in a game when he was with the Kings.

This is always fun, Ken......
Mine is inspired by gravity and wheels.
I am surrounded by mountians....and ski lifts......which charge a small fee to haul you and your bike to the top of the mountian, all day long. :D
I've even competed a couple of times in the old fart division. It's always good for a medal since there aren’t many older folk around, willing to race.
My username stands for my nickname. Maliy in russian means younger in age. Most of my friends are older then me so they call me maliy.
mine is Sean....obviously for my name
but X is just short for XtremE since thats normally my tag in FPSs =) I kill extremely well:rotfl:
AAF Striker
03-01-02, 08:22 PM
AAF Striker. Well, back in the day when I played Rainbow Six we were called American Assault Force. That's the AAF part. And the Striker was just somewhat made up. It sounded cool and I was always killing everyone ... so Striker became. But AAF is cool now because it can also be Alien Ant Farm ;) That's about it, my name is not special....

Mine was my nickname is high school and it stuck over the years. They called me beaker after the character from the muppets. I really never fully understood why, but it just grew on me.
MadDoctor
03-01-02, 08:26 PM
I was several posters before I was MadDoctor. A fight broke out between Norm and Lobo so I signed on as a new user called NormsDoctor. After the dispute was settled, Norm PM’d me and asked that I change my name to something other than NormsDoctor [understandable]. Not knowing what to do I picked MadDoctor which brought David (a real doctor) into the mix. He asked if I was a real doctor (I was once with the girl next door when I was 10… she called herself mouse at that time) and I said I was MAD but not a doctor. I agreed not to prescribe Methadone over the Internet and he agreed not to rip my heart out through my kneecap.
brembo-
Italian brake manufacturer....have a set of thier rotors on my car. Uncompromsing quality and dedication to thier art. Brakes to be found on F-1 cars, Porches, and Ferrari's. Space shuttle even has Brembo technology on it. My real name is Daniel, or jackass....whichever suits ya. I picked brembo cuz I like thier philophsy, " do it the best, and let the chips fall where they may". Seems fitting. :)
Short for "Easto_Facto" nickname

terrancelam
03-01-02, 08:43 PM
I may have already explained this once..hehe but I'm sure not alot of people know..Terrance Lam is just an identity I use. Story behind it ? When I was 14 and I believed in things like "fake IDs", I went out and got one and when he asked me for a name, I was unsure and though "What is the most stereo typical asian name I can think of?" And Terrance Lam was what popped into my mind and all my friends know that when I reffer to my fake ID (Which by the way sucks and doesn't work.), they know about Terrance :D (One reason everyone that I showed it to know about it is that I was so nervous the day I got it was that I signed my own name on the bottom of the ID instead of Terrance Lam!)
I don't know of any other name would suit me, but I was considering a name change.
It's a long complicated/sorted story really. Oh wait...thats another tale..
Noevo. Short for No Evolution. Not the evolving kind of evolution, but the Harley-Davidson engine know as the Evolution, or Evo for short. At the time I was very opposed the the engine. It was new, therefore bad. Actually, it just didn't sound or feel like the engine I had become accutomed to. The shovelhead. So Noevo was born.
Of course, I have since seen the error of my ways and own a Harley with an Evolution engine. But, I like the name and it's unique, has a story, and is just a damn cool nickname if you ask me
end of story...
...or is it?
:p
It all started back when I was 14 and got online for the first time. My names Joe and I wanted to get like "Joe Cool" "Cool Joe". Everytime I tried it, id get "Joe Co8646547865478654875647865" or "Cool Joe457489758475435". And I wanted a screen name that was easy to remember. So I played with Cool Joe for a bit and Came up with CoolJ (Everyone thinks I like LL CoolJ-lol). :D

I'm a doctor, and my names Doug, and when I thought of the name, 99 was the number of awards I've received due to my brilliance.;) the number is far greater now:D
I wish, that would be sweet. Back in 1997, I got my first computer, and bugged my parents for like a month straight to let me get AOL, so I could see what this internet was all about...I couldn't think of a name, but drdoug sounded cool, but that was taken, so I put 99 at the end, just cuz I thought it was cool sounding...and I've been known as drdoug99 ever since.

Macho-Module because I am a 500 pound chap wearing Latino journalist with a notepad, a leather beret, and enough Viagra to kill us all.

I'm just the master of everything :D . I stuck the 7 on there, becasue I thought master was already taken, and 7 is cool.
Not hard to guess mine. Mike is my first name...W is for my last name. I didnt originally think I'd enjoy forums, but now I am hooked. It's much better than IRC chat (which I am a veteran of, thank God) because you don't have to put up with all the wars and taking over of rooms, all the crap that happens in chat now. I simply chose a quick name in order to register for this forum, and still using it. Not to offend those who use nicknames, but I don't feel the need to hide with a nickname, which I always felt I was doing when on IRC. Too old to pretend now (38 years) and I am here simply because I enjoy learning what I can about this newfangled box called a computer.
My computer has taken place of my motorcycles, but the need for speed and performance won't go away. Just fortunate that I can't get any speeding tickets with the computer!
Hmmm...now that I think about it, my "nick" in IRC was "fastmike".
Got a lot of questions about that nick, but, again, it was related to motorcycles...not sex.
***This is for Brembo*** I agree with ya on the Brembo products. They also make most excellent motorcycle brake parts (pads, rotors, lines, calipers). Top notch!!
***This is for UOD*** I was so impressed by your avatar, that I just had to make one for myself. I hope you don't think I stole your idea. You get the credit! I am just a follower!
When I first started buying on ebay in 1998, I had to come up with a name. My grandkids called me Papa Tom (to distinguish from Papa Bill, the other grandfather). I tried poppatom, and papatom but both were taken. Poptom worked. I checked back later and found I could have used just "tom". I like to keep things simple.

TheAntipop
03-01-02, 10:29 PM
TheAntipop because i dont like most things that are popular because it gets waterd down by the media and the executives and corporations and loses what it started out with in the first place that made it great.
its also a song by primus that i liked the words to.
Indy, which is short for IndyOST (my old nickname), which stood for Indianapolis Online Service Technician, which is my job :D
Fairly self explanatory.

Seems to be a couple of bike nuts here :D
When I wrenched on bikes at a Honda dealership, I got almost all of the deep engine repairs and all of the electrical repairs too.
When I was given the job ticket, the service manager said "ah, lets see you f**king fix this one RoundEye" in a Japanese accent.
It stuck.
Brembo, I have Brembo brakes on my Ducati. A good pull on the lever and I can stand the bike on the front tire.

Damn, I feel left out. Never worked in a bike shop, nor could I dream of working on one for money. But I like to keep the guys in the shops busy :D
current ride is a 94 HD Heritage Softail Classic. First bike I ever rode was a '78 FLH. Fell in love with shovelheads at that point. Can still spot one by sound alone. OR if it's hot out and theres a bike sitting on the side of the road, it's a shovelhead.
I'm discovering much in this thread, this is the most interesting one I've read in a long time. This thread feels different, and in a good way.
A ghost is the spirit of a dead person, and I died a long time ago. Things I've done, things I've witnessed and things done to me have left me soulless.
The descriptor under my avatar is how I feel about myself - forsaken by God, forsaken by me.
I take solace in two things: laughter and my son, now 5. The latter keeps me alive, gives my life meaning and purpose, and if he should somehow die before me....well, let's just say it won't be by much. Because without him I'm nothing - a ghost.

In Greek and Roman drama, a god lowered by stage machinery to resolve a plot or extricate the protagonist from a difficult situation.
An unexpected, artificial, or improbable character, device, or event introduced suddenly in a work of fiction or drama to resolve a situation or untangle a plot.
A person or event that provides a sudden and unexpected solution to a difficulty.

Too hard to explain if you havn't seen "Big Jim Slade" in "The Kentucky Fried Movie." Watch it, and you'll get the idea. ;)
I was given that name many years ago, and its stuck as a nickname ever since, even to the point where most people call me Jim (its not my real name ;)). The only problem was that the old VHS copy was so poor, it sounded like Big Jim Slate, and not Slade (and the credits were too blury to read). The name stuck, and I've had it for at least 8 years or so. Not exactly sure why its all in caps, probably because I just wanted it BIG. :p

You guys remember the story..:D
MG and I were kayaking, I was trying to get in while he was holding it. Well, I leaned to far, and splash, I hit the water face first.
Poor man was trying not to laugh, but when I surfaced laughing, he let loose. We did continue are kayaking even though I was soaked, and when we were leaving he called me "splash"..and here I am.;)

Hmm IranianHobo.
Well Hobo is defined as: One who wanders from place to place without a permanent home or a means of livelihood.
So one could infer that through my name I try to express that I
a) no longer live in Iran and so roam many countries but don't consider them to be my homes
or
b) Live in Iran but have no home
Now those of you who know me know I live in New York there by leaving only choice a. Choice a is not correct. IranianHobo is a name I made up cause I liked both the words seperetley and decided to mix'em.
My handle carries no message whatsoever.

J = Jamie
L = Lee
R = Riley
wee = because I used to always say that when I was going 120+ on the highway in my audi 5000cs turbo in high school.
96 = my version of 69. It always annoyed me when people would say 69 cuz its so llamaish (not the actual act of 69, but just the way it sounds) so I switched it around. Go me.
