anyone knows where i can get a cobol compiler for free?
Most books that teach cobol come with a copy of the MicroFocus compiler. However, if you don't have that luxury, there are two free ones that I know of--the Fujitsu (http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10085-100-895627.html?tag=st.dl.10001-103-1.lst-7-1.895627) and TinyCobol (http://tinycobol.org/). The Fujitsu one is stable closed source freeware, and TinyCobol is an open source (GPL) that is currently being worked on (so, all features might not be implemented).
