little question on case mod

How did you guys put a hole through the side of the case? What tools did u guys use? ;)

i have a 76mm(3in) hole saw also,u need a drill too

used the hole saw on this,only a little sanding needed to get all the sharp edges off

not that i can think of.

do u have a drill,can u borrow one? the hole saw is only like $15 and the arbor is another $10

if u only need a 80mm hole the see the hole saws that size with a arbor

I use a jig-saw. You have to have a bit of practice to make a good hole though.

Take a 5 mm drill and drill holes all round . Then you sort of " cut " the remains out with the drillbit . Just smooth up the edges afterward . Not the best but I bet you can get your hands on a drill

Hole saw. I like the one-piece ones without a separate arbor. I think it's McCoy and it's red. If you can gain access to a drill press, that's by far the best way to go. If not, you'll need a 1/2" drill motor. Use a low RPM with steady, medium pressure and hang on because it will bite. A few strokes with a half-round file will clean up the edges.

A 3 1/2" saw can be used for 80 or 92mm fans.

umm no

i use a drill,12v dewalt works nicely,18v one wroks a little better but the 12v with a fresh battery will cut through it like it was butta

none yet thinking about trying to find a 60mm 80mm and 92mm if they make those sizes is a 120mm too big for this drill i thought thats what i was told on here before.

u can fit a 120mm on that,it just depends on the arbor size

i have a 114mm and 76mm and they both fit on the same 3/8" arbor

i bought everything from lowes except the 114mm,i didnt know they sold it

I saw hole saws in the hardware store today

I got U hooks to mount on top of my case to facilitate a carrying strap.

I didn't get any hole saws though because no one was there to help me find the right arbor or whatever you use to attach the hole saw to a drill.

YoS u need a 3/8" arbor and it needs to fit up to 4 1/2" hole saws,look at the link its the bottom arbor,it fits 1 1/4-6" hole saws.

el bob what kinda drill u got?u probably want a 3/8 arbor also

none of the drills are mine (I'm only 15) but there are at least 6 workiing corded electrical drills in my basement.

I'll get some info from the drills and head down to the hardware store again.

Take a look at the drills you've got. The size is marked on the chuck. If you have a 1/2", use it. If the largest one is 3/8", you'll have to find a 3/8" arbor which is not a common size. The box that the hole saw comes in should tell which arbors you can use. Make sure they fit together before you buy because the different brands are not always compatible.

Once you have the arbor, you can use it with other size saws.

Please post again when you have the tool. It's fast and easy to cut the hole but there certain precautions to take.
