Have any of you guys ever had your case powder coated?
It makes an awesome 100% totally sealed skin. High gloss or flat finish. Awesome look, better than factory baked.
I had an experience with it once for some custom made metal wire manequins.
A client of mine collected old sports memorabilia and had some very expensive jerseys that he wanted to display in his house. Asked me could I handle it... :D
(The Babe ;) ,Lou Gerig, Sandy Kofax, too many to remember and list... Unbelievable collection! )
I had a metal smith use a thick gauge wire and weld it in the shape of a mans upper torso with arms, neck and head.
Now, I couldn't risk any possibility of that wire manequin rusting and ruining irreplacable, extremely valuable, jerseys.
So I began researching how to totally seal that wire making it impossible to even bleed a hint of rust...
I learned that they use a positive and negative electical charge to a dry powder substance and it totaly covers all of the metal and leaves and awesome baked paint looking finish...
I bet it would look awesome done to a case.
Very durable, scratch resistant, flawless looking paint job!
After remembering this, you can bet that my box I am preparing to build will have this finish applied, ;)
Oh, if you were still interested, I had some various base stands made and some plexiglass covers.
My client was VERY pleased standing there looking Stan Musial complete with hat, shirt, jersey, glove, ball, bat, (baseball card on it's own little stand in there...) looking at Roy Campanela complete, looking at George Herman...
At this moment, was the first time we discussed the price...
Care to guess what my tip was... :p hehehehehehheehehhe
