Hi all, i have an AMD Tbird 1ghz (100mhzFSB) and have had it o/c'ed to 1.55ghz for the past few moths (using 155FSB - no voltage mods etc) now suddenly i start getting flickers and texture tearing - which only dissapears when i drop down to 1.45ghz - it was suggested that i clean out HSF etc for dust, which i have done to no affect...does anyone have any ideas??

|No drivers or anything - it just "happened" one day .. i was thinking along your lines at first and formatted HDD etc. but nope - it just appears to have developed :(

hmmm how long have you been ocing the processor?

My guess is that overheated in the computer and is either dying or very very dirty and close to dying.

What do you have the multiplier and divider set at? This sounds like something on the PCI bus might be freaking out, this could include the AGP video card.

Is your Tbird a AXIA? Cuz my 1Ghz Tbird can barely reach 1.25Ghz......and it's a AJFA.

sorry CY never bothered to check the stepping -- I'd had the CPU overclocked at 1.55 for months - since bout mid september, and the problem appeard about - a few weeks back, there were no signs of high CPU temps etc all was normal, around 45C full load mark as usual. The CPU itself is running on a 10X multiplier on a 155 Mhz FSB (it is now on 145) - funnily enough it doesnt post on the 133 or 120 FSB though. It would seem strrange a problem with the graphics card would appear after such a long time though...

the AGP card at 68 or 69 mhz at a year or so on a not so high quality card at 4x AGP will probably have that effect.

hmmn...its a fairly decent card:( Elsa Gladiac 511 (GF2MX400) 64mb AGP....do you think it could possibly be something to do with the memory over heating, or dust gathering in the CPU socket??

Maybe re-draw the L1 bridges?
