OK im buying new comp parts. here's what i'm getting, let me know if im missing anything...

mobo
cpu
fan
case
heatsink/paste
wires

one question though, what are the names of the wires that connect everything to the hardrive (those red and yellow ones with the plastic clips at the end) and what are the names of the grey ones with the black connectors halfway through them? Those are ata cables right?

Uhm, you're missing a lot of parts if you're wanting to build a new system from scratch....you're missing:

- power supply unit <-----(you're red, yellow and black wires)
- hard drive <-----(boxed version comes with an ata 66/100 IDE cable)
- memory
- video card
- sound card
- network card/modem
- speakers
- cd-rom/dvd-rom
- floppy drive

;)

Cat fight...! :)

BTW You already have your operating system? (Like WIndows 98SE or XP) all ready to install on the new computer? Or are you planning to "transplant" the thing over?

Those red and yellow cable are , beleive it or not :) , power supply leads :) . The connectors on them are called molex connecters . And that flat calbe your talking about is the rubbon cable
